What is Pilates?

Pilates is a unique type of low-impact exercise developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. The movements focus on improving your flexibility, posture, breathing patterns and core strength. Pilates is an overall workout for the entire body, but targets your core – your abdominal area, back, hips, and inner and outer thighs. Joseph Pilates based the work on the six principles of Pilates: centering, control, flow, breath, precision, and concentration.

Core engagement, hip, torso, and pelvic alignment, balancing, and breathing are the main focus areas in Pilates. When practiced regularly, Pilates will strengthen your lower back, firm and tone your muscles, improve your body posture, enhance flexibility and coordination, and deliver an overall healthy feeling to you from within. Private Pilates Lessons with Myofascial Release Techniques

During our one-on-one or duet sessions, we give specialized attention to ensure proper technique and effective rehabilitation of injuries. We will create a personalized Pilates program for you that is designed to achieve your desired outcomes.

Our studio space features high-quality Peak Pilates equipment manufactured with the utmost integrity. Clients can benefit from a reformer, Cadillac table, a spine corrector, the Wunda chair, and many other exercise props. We have a ballet barre installed into the wall for stretching, balance work, and ballet-inspired technique training. We teach Pilates from a classical background, but are always incorporating new ideas and movement modalities. We often wind sessions down with myofascial release and assisted stretching.
